Luis Simões once again received the EcoVadis Gold Medal, a company specializing in corporate sustainability ratings in the supply chain.
This marks the third consecutive year that LS has achieved this qualification due to its efforts to advance sustainability goals, reaffirming its position as a responsible company. For this assessment, the EcoVadis platform analyzed Luis Simões’ policies in various areas, such as Environmental Protection and Ethics, among others.
Overall, LS achieved a score of 72/100, surpassing the industry average in each of the areas analyzed. The highest scores were achieved in the Human Rights and Labor category, with a total of 80/100, as well as in Sustainability.
This result is the culmination of collaborative efforts across the various divisions of Luis Simões to create a transportation model that contributes to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Sustainability Strategy
In recent years, LS has undertaken various projects to establish a more sustainable transportation and logistics model. To achieve this goal, the company defined nine principles in its Sustainability Strategy. Since 2017, several projects have been implemented, including the inventory and accounting of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) across all Group companies. Additionally, Luis Simões has 13 gigaliners in operation on the roads of Portugal and Spain, being the first company to consistently introduce this type of vehicle on the Iberian Peninsula.
Regarding sustainability, one of the company’s recent initiatives was the opening of its Puerta Centro – Ciudad del Transporte Logistics Operations Center (COL) in Guadalajara, Spain. This complex, along with the COL in Cabanillas del Campo, received LEED certification from the USA Green Building Council. Among the parameters that contributed to this recognition was the promotion of sustainable mobility.
“This year, more than maintaining the results from the previous edition, we have set a new record, surpassing the defined objectives. This recognition reaffirms our commitment to a sustainable transportation and logistics model,” noted Cláudia Simões, Sustainability Development Coordinator at Luis Simões.
The EcoVadis report highlights the collaborative effort of the Luis Simões team. The results are shared with the 55 companies registered on the platform, which aims to assess sustainability performance in the global supply chain.
More than 75,000 companies rely on EcoVadis to monitor their environmental impact and promote transparency and trust among business partners.
